COASTVIEW VETERINARY EMPLOYEE EARNS KAREN PRYOR TRAINING PARTNER CERTIFICATION
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oct. 15, 2020 – Leanne Schmitt, BS, RVT, KPA-CTP and Fear Free Certified Professional passed her written and practical assessment for the Karen Pryor Dog Training Academy. Certified Training Partners are at the forefront of behavior science practicing techniques that are scientifically studied and proven.
“Completing the Karen Pryor Academy was incredibly hard work,” said Leanne, “and I learned so much from my instructors and peers. I learned to reinforce all of the wonderful behaviors our pets offer daily instead of focusing on those behaviors we find undesirable. My relationship with my own dog has flourished as I have a greater understanding of her needs and how she learns. What an unforgettable experience for both of us.”
Graduates of the academy are dedicated to prioritizing the emotional well-being of dogs – setting them up to succeed in training. This aligns well with the Fear Free philosophy which is at the foundation of CoastView Veterinary Hospital’s protocols. “Leanne has gained immense knowledge and valuable skills from this program,” said medical director and business owner Laura Schultz, DVM.” “I’m certain this will help her prepare for a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Behavior.”
Leanne is implementing staff training seminars focused on using behavior modification to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in pet patients. “The best part about working at CoastView Veterinary Hospital is that they support my passion for animal behavior.” Leanne continues, “I am honored to help pets overcome their fear in the veterinary hospital and I’m excited for my future as a KPA-CTP.”
